MORE THAN ONE DOXIE: YES OR NO?

Image may contain: text

I know lots of doxie owners who have two or more doxies, and everyone, both humans and doxies, seem very happy with that arrangement. The humans see that their doxies have a playmate, and the doxies have a partner in crime!

I also know of doxie owners who have six, seven, eight, or more doxies. They do say "the more the merrier," but I don't think we could handle that many. Oh, I love all of them, but that seems like a lot of trips outside!

In any case, dachshunds are the best. There are other breeds that are just as swell, but I prefer smaller dogs. For example, our granddawg Bruno the boxer is as sweet as they come and very loving, HOWEVER, if he decides to run and I'm in his path, I'd better get out of his way or get run over. If he were so inclined, he could do some serious damage to my decrepit body. I'm glad he's a sweetheart.

Sunny, on the other hand, loves to get in my lap, and I must admit I enjoy having a doxie in my lap again since Duke passed away.

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em!  They know the meaning of unconditional love.

LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE BEAUTIFUL LONGHAIRED DOXIES!

There are so many coat colors and combinations that I can't possibly put them all in today's post! They're all beautiful, and I hope you enjoy them. If you have a longhaired doxie (or more), feel free to share a photo in the comments section below. Tell us your doxie's coat colors, name, and age.

Ready, set, go!

Yes, it's a bit drastic, but it's all in good fun. C'mon--you laughed, I know.

WOW!

This meme means business--and before I get hate mail, it's a JOKE, lol! You gotta laugh, though.

What about this one:

We all know that doxies make it their mission in life to "kill" all squeak toys. 'Nuff said.

Dachshunds--you gotta love 'em.  Have a great weekend, doxie lovers!

PRETTY MUCH!

Image may contain: text that says 'If it's not a Dachshund It's just a dog'

I don't have to extol the virtues of doxies here, because we are all rabid doxie lovers. We hear a lot about their frailties--stubbornness, hard to train, etc., but I submit that I've never had or been around a dog breed that was so lovable, loyal, interactive, and fun to be with. They are absolute clowns, and way too intelligent for their own good sometimes!

WE HAD A GREAT CHRISTMAS 2018

This is my first opportunity to post our family photos from Christmas, so I'll "bore" you with those today. I hope you had a very blessed holiday with your loved ones, if you celebrate Christmas. It's the day we Christians celebrate Christ's birth, and it's very meaningful to us.

Here you go:

You may have noticed that our daughter Bethany and son-in-law Kurt weren't in any of the pictures. They had to head on back to AZ in mid-November, but we sure do miss them! Thank heavens for texting, calling, and face timing.

In closing, I MUST put something doxie in this post for you:

VINTAGE CHRISTMAS EVERYTHING!

I have always loved vintage Christmas paintings, pictures, decorations, and family gatherings: the fireplace crackling with a cheerful glow, snow softly falling outside, listening to Christmas music as I decorate the house, and the grandchildren helping me bake goodies for the holidays.

Family is the best gift every Christmas, and we should never take our loved ones for granted!

Enjoy these vintage Christmas images:

MONDAY AGAIN??

Doxies, much like us humans, have different feelings about Mondays. Take a look:

After all, one seventh of our lives is spent on Mondays, so we might as well come to terms with it, right?

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em, even on Mondays! Have a great week, doxie lovers!

TRUE LOVE??

I don't think the doxie on the right of this meme is all that impressed with this declaration of love, do you??

HAPPY MONDAY (IF THERE IS SUCH A THING!!)

Ah, Mondays. Why does our culture dread Mondays so much?? We adore Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (until Sunday nights). It's all rooted in the work week, I'm sure of it. Now that I'm retired, I still love weekends and dread Mondays out of habit, although my Mondays aren't very much different from Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.

I love getting up at a civilized time each morning. I still wake up early, and I usually roll out of bed before seven, but that's so much better that getting up at 5:00 a.m. like I did when I was teaching! I've never been a morning person myself, because I sleep deeply and it's hard for me to wake up, even with a good night's sleep. Now that I'm older, it's even harder to get up than it was when I was spry (if I ever was).

These doxie memes mirror our own feelings about Mondays. Some are ready, some are not, some are in between love and hate for Mondays. In any case, have a great day, doxie lovers! Remember your doxie loves you:

TO CHEW, OR NOT TO CHEW . . .

Does your doxie like to chew and/or tear up things (other than his/her toys)? Our doxie Duke was always very good about not chewing up anything important, except his toys, of course. He had to kill them, you know--especially if they squeaked! I think doing that is baked into the dachshund's DNA.

Some doxies make more of a mess than others, and it always seems to occur when Mom and Dad aren't home. That leads me to believe that they KNOW what they are doing and that it will upset us, so they spare us and do it when we don't have to see it happening, lol!
