DOXIES ARE GOOD JUDGES OF CHARACTER

In fact, most dog breeds are. They can sense something in people that we often cannot--but they can be swayed by their noses. For instance, if a person own a cat, the dog will pick up on that and might automatically growl at him/her. Nevertheless, I'll trust a dog in the character department most of the time, especially one in the family. THEY JUST KNOW.

THE EYES HAVE IT--ESPECIALLY FOR DOXIES

Ah, those doxie eyes . . . they know how to use them, too. HOWEVER, they also know how to convey their feelings through those beautiful eyes God gave them. In this photo below, the sweet pup is showing Daddy (or another male human) how much he is loved. Don't you love it?

And here's another doxie using his/her eyes, but for an entirely different reason:

"My dear human, any food you
eat is supposed to be shared with ME"

And we all know they can convey their opinions quite readily:

"You've absolutely RUINED
my hair!!"

The rolling of the eyes HAD to be invented by doxies!

One thing I've always loved about dachshunds is the fact that the doggone pups are practically human, emotionally and psychologically. Yes, they might stay at the human toddler level according to dog aficianados, but I beg to differ--sometimes they're much smarter than humans. How else can you explain how they often outsmart us and other dogs?

Here are some doxies just being doxies. Enjoy!

ATTITUDE WITH SHORT LEGS

Those of us who love and/or own doxies already know they're big on attitude, if not in size.  They happen to think they're just as big as anyone else and are usually not afraid to go after much bigger dogs or animals (even people, if they think their humans are in trouble). Bred to hunt those mean ol' badgers underground, it does take quite a bit of moxie to go after those wild and fierce animals.

In spite of their famous atittude, doxies have so many positive qualities that make them irresistible to us doxie lovers. For example, they:

 ARE CLOWNS WHO LOVE AN AUDIENCE

KNOW HOW TO RELAX

ARE TENACIOUS--THEY NEVER GIVE UP

DON'T SUFFER FROM AN INFERIORITY COMPLEX

LOVE US UNCONDITIONALLY FOREVER

ARE SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL IN ALL THEIR
COATS (SMOOTH, LONGHAIRED, WIRE)
AND COLORS

IS THIS YOU?

Those of us who love dogs understand the meme perfectly. I could watch videos of doxies all day long, especially a bunch of puppies playing together.  I love dogs in general, but I ADORE dachshunds. Once you've had a doxie, other breeds pale in comparison! That is not to say that there aren't other wonderful dogs out there, but you doxie lovers know what I'm talking about. I've never had or been around a dog breed that was more interactive, nosy, alert, and loving than a doxie.

My doxie Duke was literally our fur child. He interacted with us. He showed us unconditional love (that is, unless we were making fun of him--he knew we were, and told us off in no uncertain terms). Dogs are master observers, and coupled with their sense of smell, can pretty much figure out what's going on with us humans. They know our body language as well, and if you've ever been upset, you know your doxie does his/her best to give you doggie kisses and comfort you in his own special way. And it is pretty special.

Dachshunds, no matter their quirks and failings, are the best, and it's impossible not to love 'em.

Dogs are people, too!

MmmmHmmm!

All of us doxie lovers pretty much agree that the above meme nails it when it comes to our beloved breed. Oh, we know they're stubborn to a fault, try to steal our food, beds, couches, chairs--but what they give in return is priceless: unconditional love.

Papa Duke, one of the beloved characters in THE DACHSHUND ESCAPADES series books (who also happened to be my dad), so aptly states our feelings about dogs:

"A dawg loves you no matter what. You can be ugly, old, even dumb--but a dawg don't care. All he wants is your love and some food now and then. I think dawgs represent the unconditional love God has for us--maybe that's why He created them, to show that to us."

So there you have it--dogs aren't man's best friends by accident! 

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em, because they love us. It's that simple.
