Our family, like everyone else, is especially busy this time of year. With us, things start picking up in November and gather steam all the way to New Year's. That's one reason I haven't posted regularly the past couple of weeks. With four birthdays, two anniversaries, Thanksgiving, Christmas--we're on the go with church programs, family celebrations, and our grands are in a play with the local little theater as well!

Merry Christmas, doxie lovers! You may not see any posts from me until January, but I'll be thinking of you.

I have always loved vintage Christmas decorations, scenes, trees, scents, gifts, food, and SNOW. As a Christian, I especially appreciate the reason for the season: Christ's birth in Bethlehem. Below are some lovely scenes for you to enjoy:

Dear Humans,

Here’s the dachshund breed’s Christmas list, because sometimes you’re clueless about us! Therefore, we’d better tell you what we want:
1 - a special alarm that goes off whenever the word “vet” is uttered in our homes, AND
2 - a secret trap door where we can hide during the chaos following the alarm (nobody will look for us immediately, and we’ll have our stash of treats, water, and blankies waiting!)
3 - an unlimited supply of cheese
4 - an unlimited supply of treats
5 - an unlimited supply of peanut butter
6 - squeak toys that still squeak even after we “kill” ‘em
7 - an outdoor potty place that has a roof for when it rains and a heater for when it’s cold
8 - a sign for the front door so that all who enter are already aware:
“This home is run by our doxie(s), so do everything within your power for his/her/their happiness and comfort”
9 - never come here empty handed: bring something for us to eat and/or play with
10 - heated blankies
11 - all humans to rub our bellies, ears, or backs when required, for as long as required
12 - this list is subject to additions and deletions as needed (doxies CAN change their minds, you know!)
13 - NEW ITEM - Yikes! Almost forgot that we want you to read Sarge the doxie’s books of heartwarming tales because HE understands us and has done our breed proud with his accomplishments!

*Disclaimer - this list is actually meant as a joke! We doxies really don’t want to take over the world—just love us and feed us, because we love YOU unconditionally (and more than you realize)!
Merry Christmas,
Your dachshund(s)

Well, it's Monday, and much of the Southeast is blanketed in snow! Our hometown of Raleigh, NC got at least a foot. Here in Middle Georgia, all we got was lots and lots of rain. That beats an ice storm and power outages, right?

Have a great week, doxie lovers, as you prepare for the holidays. Much is going on in homes around the country, but family is extra important--not things. Focus on them (including your doxies).

I've always loved vintage anything: decor, homes, cars, clothing, antiques, and especially Christmas cards. Below is a selection I've gleaned from the web, and I think they're adorable! I hope you enjoy them, too, doxie lovers! I think the first one, a Victorian design, is my favorite--what's yours?

Is this you as well? There are several other dog breeds that I love: husky, German shepherd, French bulldog, pug--okay, most of 'em. But none of them can hold a candle to my beloved doxies.

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em, because they are so lovable.

It's that time of year to decorate our Christmas trees. I have ONE doxie ornament on our tree (I know, I know--it's scandalous to have only one!). Do you have any doxie ornaments on your tree? I'm sharing some really cute ornaments I found online, so enjoy them. I certainly have!

'Tis the season to be jolly, doxie lovers. Let's keep in mind that there are some folks who are having a tough time this holiday season: the loss of a loved one, financial difficulties, health issues, lonliness, divorce--so let's reach out to our friends and neighbors who could use our help and our kindness.

Let's be more like our beloved doxies:

I have always loved vintage Christmas paintings, pictures, decorations, and family gatherings: the fireplace crackling with a cheerful glow, snow softly falling outside, listening to Christmas music as I decorate the house, and the grandchildren helping me bake goodies for the holidays.

Family is the best gift every Christmas, and we should never take our loved ones for granted!

Enjoy these vintage Christmas images:

I don't know how Thanksgiving flew past us, but it did! Well, in our family, we had three birthdays to celebrate in November, plus Thanksgiving. Also, our daughter and SIL left us to head back to AZ in their RV. We had a celebratory sendoff dinner for them as well. So, now we're already in the Christmas season, one of my favorite times of the year. This month, you're going to see lots of Christmas doxies, so buckle up and enjoy the view!
