COMING UNPLUGGED

Our moving day is this Friday! Today is the last day I'll post until we are reconnected after we move. We're on the home stretch with our packing, leaving out only essentials for the next few days. We close on our house here tomorrow, our new house on Thursday, and then Friday, MOVING DAY.

Our three grands are coming on Thursday to help us finish up and will help me clean after the movers empty the house. We'll do the hardwood floors, one last swipe at the bathrooms and kitchen, and voila! Out the door we'll go Fri. after lunch.

Thank you for your patience as I go through what I hope is our FINAL MOVE.  We'll only be 15 minutes from Holly and family, which is a big plus in our book.

Here are our grands, our helpers, plus Holly and me, on Mother's Day:

WHERE HAVE I BEEN??

Image may contain: text

That's a valid question, and I have several answers. Have a seat and read on!

We are moving to Macon, Georgia, in just a few weeks, and listed our house for sale on April 9. By April 13, our agent stopped taking offers: we'd have 44 showings and 22 offers, several above asking. Whew. We had to find a home at our new location pronto, so we enlisted an agent there and toured our top five we saw online. We chose a home in one day, made and offer, and over the course of the past week, our offer was accepted.

In the meantime, I broke my toe, then we were in an accident (not our fault--someone rear-ended us on the interstate), and we've started packing for our move, which is two hours away.

Why are we moving? We have no family here, and we want to be closer to our daughter Holly and family. And, we'll be only 15 minutes from them.  Our son-in-law is a pastor, and we'll be attending their church as well, the first time we've lived close enough to do that in many years. Our daughter Bethany and SIL Kurt are coming in a few weeks from AZ (after we're moved), and plan to stay for the entire summer! Remember, they're the RV travelers. Holly's new home has a pole barn in the back yard, perfect for the RV. This is one happy mama/grandma.

My posts will be sporadic as we prepare to move, and for a short period after we move until we can get our wifi connected there.

See you soon, doxie lovers.

DUKE'S SEAL OF APPROVAL

Here is a photo of our doxie Duke inspecting Clark's recently-acquired, extended cab truck.  Seems that Duke has given his seal of approval :).

Yes, we survived the move from North Carolina to Georgia, and we're still in one piece.  Moving is exciting, but more difficult than it used to be . . . we're not spring chickens anymore!  Right now, we've been here at our new place for one week, and we're about 3/4 unpacked, which I think is remarkable.  Years ago, we visited a friend eight months after they had moved to a new house across town, and there were still many unopened boxes from their move--so I feel that we've done extremely well in this move.

We're already liking our location in the suburbs of Atlanta.  We live in a one-street neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac, with lots of trees.  I call our place "our little house in the woods."  However, we're only five minutes from anything, so we have the best of both worlds.

MOVING AND PACKING . . .

"Mama says we're moving to another state this coming weekend, and I'm supposed to tell you that she won't be posting on here for awhile.  All I understand about this is that Mama and Daddy have boxes all over the house and they keep putting stuff in them--even my toys!

"We are going to be closer to the grandchildren, and my good buddies Shadow, Piper, and
Shadow
Aslan (another doxie and two cats in our family).  I like that.

"Meanwhile, I'm just trying to stay out of the way so they won't put me into a box, too!"  --Duke

Piper and Aslan

I thought it would be fun to have Duke tell all of you out there our news that we're moving.  I had forgotten how much fun packing ISN'T!!  We've only lived in this house eight years, but that's a record for us.  We want to be closer to family; since my mother passed away in January, we have no family here.

I'll be back online in a couple of weeks, Lord willing.  Until then, much to do!!
