JULY FOURTH!

Happy July 4th weekend, America!

We’re going to our oldest daughter’s home on Monday since the 4th happens to be both my husband’s AND my brother’s birthday!

Our son-in-law Philip is a griller extraordinaire, and he’s cooking the traditional burgers and hot dogs. I love it!

If we get around to taking pictures, I’ll post them next week!

HAPPY JULY FOURTH!

I realize that today is July 3, but tomorrow is not only our country's Independence Day, but also the birthdays of my hubby as well as my brother. So, I want to acknowledge all three in this post!

I'm a very patriotic person, and although our country is going through some tough times right now, I am so thankful for the good ol' USA. I have lived in other countries, and although they were enjoyable experiences, there's nothing like home.

Here are a few patriotic pictures:

And, happy birthday to Clark, my hubby, and Steve, my brother!

Have a great Fourth of July, doxie lovers! And remember that dogs usually freak out over fireworks; in fact, they run away more on July 4 than any other day. Keep them safe and calm.

TWO BIRTHDAYS!

We all know that July 4 was our country's Independence Day, but it was also my hubby Clark's birthday!  We had a cookout with grilled chicken strips, hamburgers, and hot dogs, along with baked beans, fried okra (we ARE in the South, you know), crispy potato rounds, cole slaw, chili (for the burgers and dogs), plus the two desserts. Everything was so good!

JULY 4: FAMILY TIME!

Our family always celebrates the Fourth the all-American way: a cookout, watch fireworks, and in our case, celebrate my hubby's birthday!

Our town has all kinds of festivities: concerts, food vendors, things for the kids (like bouncy houses), watermelon eating contests, etc. However, just about everything was rained out! They did manage to have the fireworks display at 9:30, so the grands weren't too disappointed.

We had a wonderful day, but Sunny and Sarge were none too happy with the fireworks! We live close enough to the town center (where the fireworks were set off) that they were pretty loud at our house. In addition, it sounded like people around our neighborhood were also setting off the boomies as well.

THE FOURTH OF JULY: CLARK'S BIRTHDAY, TOO

I hope you had a wonderful July 4 on Monday! We did. It also happened to be my husband Clark's birthday, so we celebrated that as well. Here are a few photos of our day:

We had a wonderful day. They came early afternoon, we had a traditional cookout, cake, and fellowship, then fireworks in our town that evening. Our town uses our church parking lot to set off fireworks (since it is on Main Street in the center of town), so the church provided fun activities for families that evening as well: bouncy houses, food trucks, train rides, etc. Since we can see the fireworks from our house, Clark and I opted to stay home and watch them (it was so hot still, and I cannot handle the heat OR the mosquitoes). The kids had such a wonderful time at the celebration.

They brought our doxie granddawg Shadow with them, so during the fireworks (which could easily be heard from our house), both dogs barked incessantly--my least favorite part of the day, of course. Any dog lover knows that dogs can't help barking at loud noises.

Shadow and Duke, our barkers!
Clark had a great birthday, and we enjoyed honoring him, the patriarch of our family! The only thing missing was Kurt and Bethany, who are currently on their RV trip and are in Denver. We'll see them this fall.

We are in the peak of summer here in Georgia, with the humidity that goes along with it. The weather has been beautiful, though!

Until next time . . .

JULY FOURTH: MY HUBBY'S BIRTHDAY

We celebrated my husband Clark's birthday at our daughter's home, and she cooked him a delicious lunch with all his favorites:  homemade chicken and dumplings, butter beans (aka lima beans if you're not from the South), green bean casserole, sweet tea, and made-from-scratch banana pudding.  As they used to say on the TV show HEE HAW:  yum yum!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!

Image result for Fourth of July images

America is the greatest nation on this earth, and with all her troubles of late, she still is!  Let's all celebrate tomorrow about all the good things about America.  I am unabashedly proud to be an American, my country who has enjoyed so many blessings endowed by our Creator.

I will always ask God to bless America, and I will always pray for America to be a good, righteous, and honorable country.  For healing to begin, this is the cure:

July Fourth Festivities

Grands at July 4 celebration
With July 4 being my husband's birthday, we had a double amount of fun!  The grandchildren enjoyed our town's July 4 activities, and we all helped Clark celebrate his birthday in style.  He had requested a homemade banana pudding in lieu of a cake, so our daughter Holly complied.

It was a beautiful day here in northern Georgia, and we enjoyed being outside.

HAVE A GREAT FOURTH OF JULY!

The Fourth of July is a patriotic holiday, and I love all things patriotic.  However, in my family, it also happens to be the birthday of my husband AND my brother.  Therefore, we have lots to celebrate!

These doxies love what the Fourth represents, too:  summertime!

Happy July 4th, everyone!

"Ahoy, mates!"
"Ah, there's nothing like sand up my nose"

"I love fireworks!  Huh? Did you say something??"
