HAPPY EASTER!
Here's a special Easter basket for you, full of cute doxie puppies. Fewer calories than chocolate, less messy than dyed eggs, and "interactive."

HAPPY MONDAY, EVERYONE!
To some, the words "Happy Monday" should never be used in close proximity to each other! I submit, however, that once that cup of coffee is consumed, that hot shower is taken, and that makeup is applied, it is actually possible to face the day head on :).
I am not now, nor have I ever been, a MORNING PERSON. I am blessed with the ability to sleep well and deeply, but that also means that it is more difficult for me to awaken and jump out of bed like my morning friends. When I used to go to a job (I now work at home at my leisure), I would set the alarm for AT LEAST fifteen minutes prior to the time I HAD to get out of bed. I'd also set the radio on a station that played soft, soothing music in order to gently awaken me from slumber. I cannot identify with those who can get up with an annoying buzzer or loud, marching band music at 5:00 A.M.!! That would guarantee my having to buy a new clock radio, because I would surely hurl it across the room . . .
And while I'm at it, I don't have a high energy level, either. Oh, I probably did when I was a child, but I don't ever recall having that "bubbling with energy" feeling. I don't fidget, either. I can sit at this computer for hours on end, never having to get up. I know that is not good for me, but oh well . . . those who exercise strenuously tell me that once those endorphins kick in, I could climb Mt. Everest (or even a flight of stairs) with ease. HAH! I don't think my body even manufactures endorphins.
In any case, the dachshunds in this post understand how I feel first thing in the morning. How about you?
I am thankful, however, that "this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
And to quote a beautiful hymn, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow." That makes everything worth it all, even for those of us who aren't morning people.
Blessed Monday to you, my friends!

AH . . . THOSE EARS!
Although doxies have a stronger sense of smell than of hearing (they are hounds, after all, and 40% of their brains is devoted to smell), dogs can still hear much better than mere humans.
Even if we are in the back of the house, my doxie Duke starts barking when Clark drives into the driveway, and I haven't heard a thing!
One thing (of many) that I love about dachshunds is their ears. I simply love long, floppy ears more than the short, pointed ones. And I have fun making "hairdos" with Duke's ears, such as what I call "pig ears," where I fold them back and then pull the ends forward--but not to worry--we are gentle, careful, and he seems to like what he considers an ear massage!
I love it when their ears flop when they run, too. It's simply endearing!

PAW PRINTS ON YOUR HEART!
It's true! I love everything about my dachshund--he is such a fun and loving friend! All dogs are faithful companions IF their humans train them and treat them right.
When we show love to our dogs, we get it back a hundredfold.
SAY CHEESE! SHADOW SMILING
I contend that dogs do smile, and this pic of Shadow with daughter Holly and granddaughter Alexa just proves my point!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
Although I now work at home, I still love Fridays: the anticipation of the weekend, the hubby and I doing something special on most Friday nights, and . . . well . . . just the whole idea that Fridays represent.
People seem more upbeat on Fridays; at the market, stores, restaurants, you'll catch bits of conversations about weekend plans, sleeping late on Saturday mornings, outdoor activities, and so on.
When I worked in offices or taught in the classroom, Fridays were different from the other days of the week--students were jubilant that they'd be out of school for two days, of course--but then, so were teachers! In offices, many companies had casual days on Fridays, and we enjoyed that.

IT'S A PARTY! ASHER'S THIRD BIRTHDAY
We celebrated with Asher yesterday for his third birthday, a Toy Story themed party. Our daughter Holly (his mom) made the cake from scratch, and it tasted as good as it looked!
