One thing all doxie owners know: dachshunds are chow hounds extraordinaire! They'll go to any lengths to obtain good human food, sometimes putting themselves in peril healthwise. This photo below is, to me, the classic doxie attitude toward food:

My doxie Duke was the perfect example of a doxie's attitude toward human food. When he was only about four or five, he once jumped up and snatched my piece of toast off my plate--and it was on the kitchen counter! He didn't use a chair or stool to enable himelf to get that high--only his own motivation!
