GRANDCHILDREN AND DOXIE LIGHTS!

Alexa 9, Annika 10, Asher 4
Dear Blog,

Sorry I've neglected you of late.  There is just so much going on in November and December.  Why, in November alone our family has three birthdays!  And, then there's Thanksgiving . . .

And in December, we have one birthday and two anniversaries.  Before my mom died, there were two birthdays.  And then there's Christmas, along with special Christmas programs at church, Christmas parties, gift shopping, gift wrapping, decorating, cooking . . . and I love all of it.

The grandchildren and our daughter Holly and son-in-law are with his family in NC.  They'll be back Christmas Day.

Our daughter Bethany and hubby who live in AZ are flying in to Atlanta TONIGHT!  Oh, there will be great rejoicing in the Hinton household, let me tell you!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!  I'll have to neglect this blog again until after New Year's--but I'm sure you understand.  Many blessings and love from on high to each of you.

TODAY IS OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Yes, Clark and I have been married 44 years today!  It has been quite a ride, and we've had many blessings along the way.  The Lord has been so good to us, carried us through heartache here and there, but He's been right by our side to comfort us.

My husband has so many wonderful qualities;  his integrity and love for his family shine brightly.  I am so thankful we've had these years together, and I hope we have many more!

GRANDSON'S PRESCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

Our four-year-old grandson Asher participated in the Christmas program at his preschool the other night.  Of course, as a doting grandma, I must share some pictures of the event!

Merry Christmas!

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

We did some Christmas shopping today.  Remind me next year to order everything online!

Some stores literally looked like a bomb had gone off in there since everything was scrambled up so much.  And I didn't detect very many happy faces, either.  Most of the shoppers I saw just looked grimly determined to "git 'er done."

Why did I wait so long to shop?  I've been very busy the past few months getting two books released.  In fact, I've sent the paperback manuscript of Book 4, A DACHSHUND'S TRIBUTE, to be published, and it will probably come out next week.  WHEW!

Back to Christmas shopping:  nobody likes to give presents at Christmas more than I do!  However, I know it is not about giving and receiving gifts, although that is fine.  It is about the ultimate gift to mankind from God: His Son, Jesus Christ.  We are celebrating His birth.  In our family, we put that first, so everything else then falls into its rightful place.

For those who can't or won't say Merry Christmas, it is a shame.  God loves us so much, so I am emphasizing the positives of this lovely season.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETHANY!

Today is our daughter Bethany's 32nd birthday, and I want to wish her a wonderful and fabulous birthday!

She was born at 6:50 p.m. in Greenville, NC, and she was nine days early, due on Christmas Day.  I wasn't feeling too spiffy at this time 32 years ago, because she was such a large baby, weighing 10 lb., 13 oz.!  Her older sister had only weighted 6 lb., 8 oz., so her birth was . . . er . . . difficult.  There were gladly no complications, thankfully.

She grew from a happy baby, a sweet little girl, to the beautiful and talented young woman she is today, with a generous and caring heart.  She loves cats.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETHANY!  We love you and thank God for you!!  XOX

Have you ever wondered what your dachshund was really thinking? Then Sarge the doxie's warmhearted tales are for you! Enjoy Sarge's Christmas holidays with his human family and animals--each book includes a different Christmas tale in his life. (And feel free to share this post to reach more potential readers.)

He tells all--beginning when he was adopted at eight weeks, through "helping" raise three human siblings in a busy pastor's family, sharing life from his "lowdown from the ground," and coping daily with zany human behavior!

The four books of THE DACHSHUND ESCAPADES are the perfect Christmas gifts for dog lovers of all ages, available in e-book or paperback. Click on the link below for more information or visit www.MavisDukeHinton.com:

THE MANY FACES OF DUKE, MY DACHSHUND

"What is that you are EATING?"

"Why are the grandkids' picture here, but mine isn't?"

"Look into my eyes . . . now get me a treat."

"All this playing has worn me out--nap time!"

"I love Asher, and he loves me; we're good buddies"
"There's a big world out there--it's kinda scary."

UNFROZEN

Last night, we had the privilege of watching our grandchildren participate in their Christmas program at their church.  UNFROZEN, the story of Christmas, is taken from the popular movie FROZEN.

Our daughter Holly wrote Christian words to LET IT GO, entitled LET THEM KNOW.  She also wrote words for DO YOU WANT TO MEET A SAVIOR to the tune of DO YOU WANT TO BUILD A SNOWMAN.

Asher, age 4, was the youngest child in the program, and his part was GUY WITH A REINDEER.  He added quite a bit of cuteness to the overall program (speaking as an objective bystander, of course).

Annika and Alexa were the two princesses in the story, Olga and Annie.  They had both singing and speaking parts, and daughter Holly directed.  So thankful that our grandchildren are involved in learning about the Lord in this way!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

FLEAS NAVIDOG

The Christmas season is my favorite time of the year!  I love everything about it:  the shopping, the gift wrapping, the music, the decorating, the cooking, the gift giving and receiving . . . but most of all, I LOVE MY SAVIOR whose birth is celebrated by this wonderful holiday.

Although these doggies are not dachshunds, I love this depiction of the nativity with them.  They all look thrilled (not), but it is cute, nonetheless.

Giving and receiving gifts is a wonderful tradition at Christmas, but the best gift of all can't be found under the tree at all.  It is found on a tree, when He died on the Cross for all who will accept Him.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, doxie lovers!  May you find the Best Gift of all this season.

SHADOW CLAWS

Here's doxie granddawg Shadow sporting his Santa outfit.  Isn't he cute??  Unlike Duke, he's pretty compliant, allowing his family to dress him up just about any way they choose.  That is not to say that he LOVES being dressed up, but that he tolerates it well.

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em.

Here's a doxie gift!

THANKSGIVING PHOTOS

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family, AND also celebrated my birthday with a trip to the Helen, GA, in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  It's a small Bavarian town on the Chattahoochee River, and it is very quaint and relaxing.

We returned to enjoy Thanksgiving Day at our daughter Holly's and family.  Clark and I had a good time.

Here are some photos:
