D-L-R PAPERBACK BEING PRINTED!

Yes, finally, my latest book, DACHSHUNDS, LAUGHS, & RANTS: Humor and Encouragement for Trying Times, has been submitted for publication. This is the paperback version; the e-book was released in May of this year. Once I receive the proof and go over it, the book will be good to go!

This is my first foray into nonfiction, and here's the blurb on the back cover:

We all have annoying times, and this little book is for those moments when we need a break from it all. Composed of short pieces ranging from encouragement to humor (and everything in between), there truly is something for everyone within its pages.

Dog lover? Great! There’s a section  about  the dachshunds Ms. Hinton has owned, complete with their antics and unconditional love. Need some commiseration for annoyances you’ve suffered? Then you’ve come to the right place as well. Ranging from exasperating experiences with customer service to pet peeves we all grit our teeth over,  you’ll find yourself smiling about “the human condition” common to us all.  And for those difficult times of sorrow, discouragement, or despair,  Ms. Hinton shares how her Christian faith has personally sustained and uplifted her during such times.

At some point, the spirited content of this little book will spur  readers to take it off the shelf again and read it anew.

C. KEVIN THOMPSON, AUTHOR OF THE SERPENT'S GRASP

Science fiction buffs, today I am happy to welcome a fellow educator and OakTara author, Kevin Thompson, who hails from sunny Florida.  He's written his first sci fi book, THE SERPENT'S GRASP, which was just released in January, and he's going to tell us about that in a moment.  Welcome, Kevin--tell us a little about yourself.

I’ve been married to my wonderful wife, Cindy, for over 30 years now. I live in Central Florida, actually in the same house where I was raised since I was three (I was born in a different house in town that has since been torn down). I graduated high school “Summa Cum Later” as I wasn’t the world’s best student (and we’ll just leave it at that). I now have a B.A. in Bible from Houghton College (Houghton, NY), an M.A. in Christian Studies from Wesley Biblical Seminary (Jackson, MS), and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University (Wheeling, IL – Tampa, FL Campus). Not bad for a kid who finished 87^th out of 200 something. Just goes to show that not everyone blooms when they walk across the stage, shake the hand of the principal, and receive that high school diploma.

I like your candid approach, Kevin.  My own husband, Clark, didn't enjoy school, either.  In fact, he never planned on going to college--ever.  Ten years after high school, the Lord had other plans for him, and now he's a teacher with more than thirty years of experience!

 

I also play the drums (self-taught) in our Church’s Praise Band. I speak in churches on occasion, and hope to do more of that as the book catches on (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).
