In today's technical world, I suppose that "the dog ate my homework" won't fly anymore. My last few years of teaching, which were online, the newest excuse for not having homework was "My hard drive crashed." There was also the "My essay got deleted by accident," or even "My laptop won't come on."
I've read recently that schools are doing away with homework. As a former English teacher, I say both "yay" and "boo to that one. It would be nice to not grade essays, book reports, research papers, etc., but how an English teacher can keep from assigning writing, vocabulary, or literature reading is beyond me.
Oh well--not my problem!
