Does your doxie love to chew as much as mine does? Duke doesn't seem all that interested in digging up the yard like some doxies do, but boy, does he love to chew! We have an old fleece blanket that we've cut into several pieces, allowing him one as his chew toy until he chews it totally up.
He also likes for Clark or me to put our hand under the blanket so he can try to "get" it. That is fun until there are more holes in the blanket than there is blanket! By then, it's difficult to find enough blanket to hide the hand underneath it. That is when it's time for a new piece of his chew blanket.
Thankfully, Duke never chews on anything important like the stories I've heard from other dog owners. He just sticks to his blanket, content to chew on it, especially before bedtime. Somehow, chewing on the "blankie" helps him to relax and fall asleep. He chews slower and slower until he simply conks out.
Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em, even with their silly quirks.
