OIL PAINTINGS FROM GERMANY

Mom and Dad purchased these two oil paintings when we lived in Germany on my military father’s tour of duty  ~ I was ten. We met the German artist, whose paintings depicted scenes around the Tyrollean Alps that border the German state of Bavaria where he grew up.

I always loved these paintings, often imagining the families who lived in homes like the one in the painting. If you zoom in, you’ll notice the laundry hanging on the porch—but there’s no clothesline! I was amazed at that as I closely inspected each painting back then because I’ve always loved art. It’s not necessary in the painting. Call it artistic license!

We haven’t displayed them for years, as the old frames were chipped and peeling. Since I wanted to use the frames for “ambience,” Clark sanded and painted them for me, and we hung them up in the guest room. VĂ³ila!

 Have a great weekend!
