I don't know about you, but we had a fabulous July 4th--not only is it our nation's birthday, it's also my husband Clark's and my brother Steve's birthdays! Steve and his family live in NC, so we couldn't get together this year, and our daughter and SIL Bethany and Kurt travel full time in their RV (they're on the West Coast right now), so it was a tad too far to come for Clark's birthday. We celebrated the occasion at our daughter Holly's house, and we had a very nice day.
This is all of us together a year ago, right before Kurt and Bethany left to head back to Arizona. Has it really been THAT long since we've seen them?? |
In lieu of a birthday cake, Clark requested a homemade, made-from-scratch banana pudding, to which Holly complied (she makes a delicious one, I might add). Our menu also consisted of the usual July 4 fare: hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill with all the fixings (in the South, that means mustard, ketchup, onions, cole slaw, chili, and relish), along with french fries, baked beans, fresh strawberries and blueberries, and fresh cooked squash. YUM YUM.
Below are a few photos of the occasion:

Clark with Philip and Holly--seems one of the patriotic balloons had to get in the way, lol |
This photo is from a few years ago when we were all together at The Cheesecake Factory--I think we were celebrating my birthday then! |
Also in attendance were Granddawgs Sunny and Bruno, who did their dead-level best to finagle a few bites of food from us, to no avail. They were sorely disappointed, but they'll get over it.
We all watched fireworks that evening on TV rather than fight the traffic (and bugs) to attending an outdoor fireworks display in the area. Much cooler inside, no bugs, and no traffic!
Have a great week, doxie lovers!
