MmmmHmmm!

Image may contain: dog and text

All of us doxie lovers pretty much agree that the above meme nails it when it comes to our beloved breed. Oh, we know they're stubborn to a fault, try to steal our food, beds, couches, chairs--but what they give in return is priceless: unconditional love.

Papa Dukeone of the beloved characters in THE DACHSHUND ESCAPADES series books (who also happened to be my dad), so aptly states our feelings about dogs:

"A dawg loves you no matter what. You can be ugly, old, even dumb--but a dawg don't care. All he wants is your love and some food now and then. I think dawgs represent the unconditional love God has for us--maybe that's why He created them, to show that to us."

So there you have it--dogs aren't man's best friends by accident!

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em, because they love us. It's that simple.

SALVADOR DALI AND DACHSHUNDS

Image may contain: dog and text

When I took the art appreciation course in college, I always loved paintings by the surrealist artist Salvador Dali. He saw life from a different lens that the rest of us.  One of my favorites:

And also this one:

His paintings look like the odd and weird dreams we sometimes have, don't you agree?  The kingpin of the surrealist movement, his art is an important element even today.

Here's a portrait of the artist by Olga Shvartsur:

I think he cultivated the
"insanity look" since
artists were/are
considered unusual

Well, this has nothing to do with dachshunds, really, so I'll leave you with this:

MORE THAN ONE DOXIE: YES OR NO?

Image may contain: text

I know lots of doxie owners who have two or more doxies, and everyone, both humans and doxies, seem very happy with that arrangement. The humans see that their doxies have a playmate, and the doxies have a partner in crime!

I also know of doxie owners who have six, seven, eight, or more doxies. They do say "the more the merrier," but I don't think we could handle that many. Oh, I love all of them, but that seems like a lot of trips outside!

In any case, dachshunds are the best. There are other breeds that are just as swell, but I prefer smaller dogs. For example, our granddawg Bruno the boxer is as sweet as they come and very loving, HOWEVER, if he decides to run and I'm in his path, I'd better get out of his way or get run over. If he were so inclined, he could do some serious damage to my decrepit body. I'm glad he's a sweetheart.

Sunny, on the other hand, loves to get in my lap, and I must admit I enjoy having a doxie in my lap again since Duke passed away.

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em!  They know the meaning of unconditional love.

WOW!

This meme means business--and before I get hate mail, it's a JOKE, lol! You gotta laugh, though.

What about this one:

We all know that doxies make it their mission in life to "kill" all squeak toys. 'Nuff said.

Dachshunds--you gotta love 'em.  Have a great weekend, doxie lovers!

PRETTY MUCH!

Image may contain: text that says 'If it's not a Dachshund It's just a dog'

I don't have to extol the virtues of doxies here, because we are all rabid doxie lovers. We hear a lot about their frailties--stubbornness, hard to train, etc., but I submit that I've never had or been around a dog breed that was so lovable, loyal, interactive, and fun to be with. They are absolute clowns, and way too intelligent for their own good sometimes!

This is my first opportunity to post our family photos from Christmas, so I'll "bore" you with those today. I hope you had a very blessed holiday with your loved ones, if you celebrate Christmas. It's the day we Christians celebrate Christ's birth, and it's very meaningful to us.

You may have noticed that our daughter Bethany and son-in-law Kurt weren't in any of the pictures. They had to head on back to AZ in mid-November, but we sure do miss them! Thank heavens for texting, calling, and face timing.

In closing, I MUST put something doxie in this post for you:
