Have you ever watched your doxie yawn? I mean, REALLY watched him/her? They put all their effort into it, and when done, look so satisfied. So today, I'm sharing some really well executed doxie yawns, beginning with granddawg Sunny's rendition.

Granddawg Sunny demonstrating the proper doxie
yawn --someones said her tongue looks like a
pink tidal wave! It does :).

On this chilly, drizzly day here in North Georgia, these yawns make me want to yawn, too!

"Head 'em up, move 'em out! Get those longhorns moving!"

Crusoe the Celebrity Dachshund looks quite fetching in his cowdog hat, doesn't he? Since there have been two black and tans in our family, I'm a bit partial to them, and Crusoe is our hero!

I love all doxies and all doxie coats, but I gotta admit, I love Crusoe. What's not to love?

Dachshunds think they're bigger and badder (I know it's not a word, but it fits!) than other dogs, and can therefore get themselves into trouble with their "in your face" attitude toward dogs like rotweilers and German shepherds! I can personally attest to the fact that our doxie granddawg Sunny (who's not quite a year old) has Bruno the boxer wrapped around her little paw.

Dachshunds . . . you gotta love 'em.

Happy Valentine's Day, doxie lovers! Hope you're having a very "sweet" day.

My wonderful hubby Clark gave me my favorites: long-stemmed red roses and a box of chocolates. I'm not hard to please at all, lol.

In searching for dachshund photos, I've found an overabundance of Valentine pictures and cards featuring doxies. Well, we all know how "loving" doxies can be, don't we? It's only fitting that they should grace Valentine cards and photos. Here are some of my favorites. Enjoy!

Hello - I'm back! My hubby had surgery last week, but is doing better and recovering nicely. I've missed you.

With Valentine's Day approaching, I've run across some really cute vintage Valentine cards with doxies on them. They are the kind we used to give to our friends in elementary school. I would write my friends' names on the envelopes, bring them to school, and during our Valentine party, we'd pass out our cards to everyone in our class. We had each decorated our own Valentine card box to put on our desk. Oh, it was so much fun back then. Anyway, here are some vintage cards to give you a walk down memory lane:

I've often seen pictures of dogs and birds who are best buds. Often, it's dogs and farmyard ducks. The pictures below show a doxie and a wild duck or goose as great friends. Isn't that heartwarming? I love seeing different species of animals being best buds. Can we humans follow their lead?
